Connections support your future, shown by Ye, Kim K., Jeff Bezos, and Taylor Swift
When younger I aspired to be Jeff Bezos, and I still do, but what does Jeff Bezos have that I want? Well aside from fortune, fame, and greater knowledge, he has connections. Connections are essentially how the famous and wealthy continue their voyage to become more rich and more wealthy. When growing up it is so important to stay on good terms with your peers and the people you interact with, so that in the chance you become famous or they do, you will have connections already formed which will then give you an upper hand on your journey. Staying on good connections is important for everyone, even celebrities, which is why a person is ‘canceled’, their life goes downhill fast.
Have you ever noticed that as soon as formerly known as Kanye West, now known as Ye, became more controversial than ever and was dropped by all of his brands that Kim Kardashian picked all of them up to be her own. While Balenciaga is currently under fire for child labor scandals, they were in past a large partner of Ye. Come a few weeks, Kim Kardashian is seen being a new large partner of the brand and is seen wearing them all over her social media. As Ye and Kim Kardashian were formerly in a marriage they had developed connections through each other. On CNN we learned that, “In September, West, who in the latter part of this year has lost multiple business partnerships following a string of antisemitic comments, publicly apologized to Kardashian in an interview with “Good Morning America” for “any stress” he’s caused her,” (CNN). Through the loss of all of his business partners Kim Kardashian received more pressure for what she would do in response to him. This pressure then turned to have her form connections with other brands, allowing her to break into the industry even further than she already was.
Keeping on topic with celebrities, when Joe Biden was running for president, he was endorsed by Taylor Swift. As you may assume, the president is capable of having connections all over the world, so if you are on good terms with them and have a decent relationship, your career and endovors are capable of going so much further. Taylor Swift was reluctant to share her political opinions in the past as shown by Forbes. “Swift rarely, if ever, spoke about her political views until she publicly endorsed Democrats for the 2018 Midterm Election. At the time, she wrote a long Instagram post about being “reluctant” to speak up in the past,” (Forbes).
With this connection Taylor Swift has with Joe Biden from meeting him after her endorsement she will be able to connect to other higher ups, giving her more publicity, which then may bring her more listeners, which will then bring her more revenue. These connections are building her career through an audience, from the attention online, meaning she needs to stay in touch with these people to support the basis of her career.
While connections go much further and deeper than the A-list celebrities, they are great examples. Connections apply to the average person’s life and we are able to build relationships with others which can help us out in the longer run. If you are considering breaking bridges with a person, try to leave the relationship on good terms to stabilize the connections you may need in the future. Just as Jeff Bezos couldn’t build a stable company by treating his investors and employees poorly, neither can you.

When it comes to success, connections are extremely important. I agree that connections are extremely important in life and in people's futures. I liked how you used examples of famous celebrities to demonstrate how important connections are and how keeping good terms with people can be extremely beneficial in the future because you never know who will be successful.
ReplyDeleteI agree that connections are one of the foundational pieces to not only becoming famous, but maintaining that status. By celebrities being surrounded by other celebrities, they simply help each other stay relevant in our world. I like the examples that you used because most people can recognize celebrities and it's easier for them to see how their connections got them to where they are. I also like the idea that connections can be a sense of "behind the scenes" because everyone sees a "collab", but not necessarily the strategy behind them.
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting that you talk about the importance of connections. Most people would assume that being well educated and a hard worker are the keys to success, yet connections are just as important. You picked a fascinating topic and supported it with good examples, well done.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought too much about how important connections are when becoming successful. I always thought of it as the person relying on themself to be hardworking and successful, but I have realized that connections are also important. Good information!
ReplyDeleteI never really gave connections' significance in achieving success much thought. I previously believed that being diligent and successful required a person to rely solely on themselves, but I've since come to understand the value of connections.
